How did you learn about CSMs? The Yarn Hoarder – Amber Linderman

How did you learn to crank? The experience I had with my addiExpress machines straightened the learning curve. After a month of playing with my Speedster and watching Youtube videos, I purchased a subscription to SockTV.

Ribber preference: Equal

What do you like most about this pastime? Finding beautiful or fun sock yarn is secondary to the finished product. I’m in it for the socks!

Favorite item to make? Socks, you can never have too many wool socks. Just ask Professor Dumbledore.

What is your favorite sock yarn? Lolodidit Plush Sock in her Hippo for Holidays series.

Advice? Buy the ribber with the machine – don’t buy it after you have had the machine for six months.

Do you know how to knit with sticks? Yes

CSM pet peeves and turn-ons: I only crank when I am in the mood. I have found that if you try to crank when tired, unwell, or upset – things go pear-shaped quickly.

Have you attended a local or regional crank-in? No

I really want to crank mittens. I just have not made it that far. I am trying to crank out my sock yarn stash. When not being cranky, I hand knit shawls, sweaters, and dishcloths. I am also a spinner. I read books like I drink my tea – in copious amounts – continually. I am a cozy mystery reader who also enjoys biographies; history; and Bible studies. I watch movies, ride motorcycles, and play Scrabble with my sweet hubby. We pick apples in the fall and troll antique malls on the weekends and we have done both while on the motorcycle. Between the saddlebags and the insides of our jackets we can bring a bushel of anything home. Bicycle rides, neighborhood walks, and playing with lightening bugs – it’s a good life.
