Ravelry: Appliejuice

Started cranking: October 2018

How did you learn about CSMs? I don’t remember. I do remember researching it for over a year before taking a teaching job just to buy one.

How did you learn to crank? From Ravelry and Facebook groups, You Tube, and LOTS of practice.

Ribber preference: Equal

What do you like most? Casting on, watching the cylinder go round, listening to the clicking, casting off, and having a finished pair of socks.

Favorite item to make: Socks for Sir Husband.

Favorite yarn: All of them, of course.

Advice: Don’t have a hissy-fit when things go wrong. Put the machine in timeout for a day. Return later and all things will work out.

Can you knit with sticks? Yes

Pet Peeves: It isn’t easy to pack up and go. Turn-ons: Watching the needles move.

Been to a crank-in? Yes

My biggest goal for the CSM this year is to learn to make beautiful cabled socks while using the ribber and I also want to do colorwork socks and mittens. My other big goal to sign-up and complete the CSM Certificate Program. So hoping to have the opportunity to do the program. When I am not cranking, I am taking care of my family who are all working or attending college from home. It seriously cuts into my cranking time, but I guess they are worth it. They just have to wait longer to get socks. LOL My two favorite resource books are “The CSM Cafe” by Sue Vunesky and “CSM Selvages” by Kathy Roletter. Favorite online resources are Learning Resources on CSKMS website, Facebook Groups, and a few YouTube videos. I have been Sock School and that was a big help, but would love to attend more crank-ins. Hopefully that will happen this year. Stupid Covid. I have an Erlbacher Speedster #1231.
