Kicks Crank-In Report, 2024

by Jean Whiteside

Thank you so very much [to the CSKMS] for helping to support our Crank-in.  It was a great success and will be happening again next year thanks to your support.

We had 45 attendees for 3 days – April 11-13.  We were lucky to have about half veteran crankers and a ⅓ of our attendees cranked their first socks with guidance of our veterans. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming. We at 3 vendors – Joyces Knits, 3 River March Hare and Babes Fiber Garden.  We were able to provide a small store-like area for our vendors which was perfect for our attendees.

Each morning we provided coffee and Kringle – a Racine tradition and many attendees brought snacks to share.

The first two days we had demos for the attendees

With all the new participants we focused most of the time on making sure that machines and knitters were getting along and they were producing socks!  It was such an encouraging environment.

One of the most exciting things that happened was that our local paper came and wrote a beautiful store about our event.  I have attached a photo and link of the story. They also included a video story on the website
